"They can be annoying in summer, but experts have warned of the
dangers of mosquito bites even in winter after one person died from
contracting a virus is WA's north.
Eight others have been diagnosed with Murray Valley
encephalitis, a severe swelling of the brain that is contracted
from mosquito bites, since January.
Department of Health officials said the virus was widespread
across the northern half of WA, with cases in the Pilbara and
Kimberley....... Officials said if conditions continue the way they
are, mosquitoes could be around till June or July this
year......
There are more than 5000 cases of Ross River disease in
Australia each year."
